Open letter to the genius behind Pemberton Festival

wtf dude? please tell me who's bright idea it was to have the first HUGE music fest of this kind halfway up a fucking mountain??? For those not in the area it is a 3 day event with Jay Z, Coldplay, NERD, Sam Roberts and tons of others. Sounds awesome huh? Ya i'm not going. Pemberton if you don't know, has a population of 2000 and is located just oustide of Whistler and there is only two roads to get there and one of them is like a fricken back road that comes DOWN from the mountains. The other is the Sea-Sky Hwy, otherwise known as the Ski and Die due to the numerous accidents on it per year. So hey let's get 50 000 people up there in one day!

At last count it was taking upwards of 6 hours to get up there. It is a 2 hour drive normally from Vancouver. And once you get up there since it is not really that developed (being halfway up a fuckin mountain again) you have to line up to park...for 4 hours. No no not to park for 4 hours..it takes 4 hours to FIND parking. Oh and if you don't have your wristbands yet? Another 3-4 hours to stand in line at the Hyatt for those. So 14 hours and you haven't even entered the festival. fuccccccccccck you 'organizers' why in god's name would you have a festival of that size in such a stupid place? Well anyone in the GVRD knows the answer...because of the Olympics. Yup we need more publicity for the 2010 winter Olympics so we've decided to hold a SUMMER festival to showcase the best SKI resort in North America. totally makes sense.

And it's not just Vancouver coming to the PemFest it's half the damn province and surrounding states from the US. Why the fuck didn't they put their thinking caps on and have it out in the Valley where at least 3 roads lead to it and are surrounded by nothing but fields for parking, camping and fornicating. Instead let's jam 50 000 into a small town with 2 hotels and not much camping but shit loads of booze.

I'd love to have gone but not to fight all this bullshit. Thumbs down.

Hey, it all sounds like a damn good reason to crash the gate once you get there.
